against Italy at Murrayfield on Saturday afternoon. When the two sides
met in the championship last year, Scotland avoided an upset by coming
from behind to win 29-27 in Rome. Italy have only won eight times in the
29 matches they have played against Scotland, with the Scots winning on
21 occasions.
Last year saw Scotland victories seven
times overall, with notable wins over England and France, whereas Italy

Scotland Gregor Townsend has injuries to deal with in the preparation
to the game, but believes his squad has an improved depth.
“Even though we have players missing, we
have other players that have played for us already or are at the level
they can play well for us,” he said.“It’s exciting that we get to start
the championship at home but we’re not taking it lightly – we know we’ll
need to be at our best.“There’s no chance of minds wandering to the
Ireland game, it’s all on the game because if we don’t get this right we
don’t stand a chance for the rest of the tournament.”
